Active Learn Primary is the main resource for the teaching of Mathematics with additional supplementary schemes for targeting children with specific individual need e.g. RM Maths, Plus 1, Power of 2, IXL. Pupils are encouraged in kS1 to take Maths games home.

Phonics is taught through a range of materials involving Read Write Inc and Letters and Sounds.

A variety of reading schemes are used to provide a broad based learning approach e.g. Big Cats, Oxford reading Tree, Discovery World and Ruth Miskin’s Superphonics. Guided Reading takes place on a regular basis throughout the school. A large, well resourced and stocked library provides extra material for children to borrow to supplement home reading.

Our creative curriculum encompasses all subjects. Our extensive grounds are used to promote ‘forest schools’ and we aim to foster independent learners.

‘The curriculum is excellent because of its breadth, balance and enrichment activities. Lovely displays around the school bear witness to the many educational opportunities pupils have and through which they flourish.’ Ofsted 2012.

Details can be found in our prospectus available from the school office.
