We had great fun entering the competitions at the Royal Cornwall Show where we received first, second, third and highly commended prizes. Some of our prizes included; first and second prizes for our Buff Orpingtons, second prize for our geese, a range of first to fourth prizes for our goats, a trophy from the Bee tent, first prize for photographs of animals and a range of prizes for our craft entries.
The children of Bishop Cornish presented their bi-annual Easter Passion Play at the church of St Nicholas and St Faith. A huge crowd of parents, friends, members from the diocese and local parishes attended. The music was specially composed. The production involved 120 children and told the story from Palm Sunday to Easter morning. It was a very lively and moving production with stunning costumes and props.
The school was delighted to be invited by Truro Cathedral to take a junk band to play at the service welcoming the new Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby, to Truro. The archbishop, with the Bishop of Truro, spent time talking to the children about our school and learning about everything that the children do. The children then played a specially composed piece called 'Just in Time' to a packed congregation and received many accolades for their timing and rhythm.
96 children enjoyed the magic of ballet when they went to the Theatre Royal Plymouth to see the Royal Ballet's new production of Aladdin. The classical tale, complete with magic carpet, Chinese lion, dragon and magical cave kept the children on the edge of their seats. We received emails following our visit reflecting the children's fantastic behaviour.
Bishop Tim was our special visitor at our annual evening Christingle service at St. Stephen's Church this year. In the afternoon Bishop Tim doned wellies and waterproofs to join in our first outside nativity. At the stable with Mary and Joseph were our rabbits, guinea pigs, ducks, chickens and guinea fowl, alongside Norman our turkey with our geese grazing and wandering freely about the stable and in the crowd. The shepherds came across the playground bringing the goats (as we have no sheep), the angels appeared from within the willow tree and the kings came from the end of the field with the alpacas, decorated in true Eastern style with blankets. The children read the story of the nativity and sang carols. The costumes got very muddy and it was all very casual- but enjoyed by all, especially Bishop Tim.
Two hundred children took part in a service for Holy Week and Easter. Children read the story of the Passion and Resurrection, sang hymns and made music. Every child carried a palm cross that they had made. Bread, wine and herbs, a crown of thorns, a sword, a purple robe and a life size cross were presented whilst singing 'Were you there when they crucified my Lord?' The resurrection was represented by flowers, candles and joyous music.

At Bishop Cornish we have lots of animals as well as children! We love our goats, chickens, geese, ducks, guinea fowl, guinea pigs, rabbits, doves and wonderful Norman the turkey. Our children look after the animals feeding, grooming and loving them. We have a wonderful band of parents who help to look after the animals during weekends and holidays. Thank you- we couldn't do it without you!
The Royal Wedding 29th April 2011 as celebrated by Bishop Cornish School. Thank you to all parents who supported us by sending in flags, bunting and food for our street party. Reception Class celebrated the event by having their own Royal Wedding. The sun shone for the happy couple and the bride arrived on time! On a glorious sunny afternoon, we all gathered on the playground for a right royal knees up! Congratulations to their Royal Highnesses from all the children, staff and governors of Bishop Cornish C of E Primary School! We hope they enjoyed their day as much as we did ours!
