Coronavirus (COVID-19) Catch-Up Premium and Remote Learning Statement

COVID-19 CATCH UP FUNDING

In July 2020 the Government announced that they would be providing schools with a Catch up Grant which enables us to support children by identifying and closing gaps in learning.

Each school was award a grant of £80 per pupil.

Schools are able to use their funding in a way that suits their cohort and circumstances and we are expected to use this funding for specific activities which will help the children to catch up on missed education.

At Bishop Cornish School we are using this funding to support same day interventions and precision teaching. This means that children are working either one-to-one with an adult (teacher or TA) or in a small focus group covering specific areas of learning that will enable a child to access the next steps.  These interventions are being delivered by teachers, teaching assistants and our Pupil Premium Teacher.

By supporting the children in this way, and by acknowledging that children had different learning experiences during lockdown, we aim to scaffold their learning in order to ensure they are accessing the full curriculum.

This approach was discussed and approved at the Governor’s meeting held in October 2020.
