Welcome

 Welcome to

BISHOP CORNISH CHURCH OF ENGLAND V.A. Primary SCHOOL

Bishop Cornish School is a Church of England Voluntary Aided Primary School.  It is named after Bishop John Rundle Cornish who was the first Suffragan Bishop of St. Germans in 1905.

At Bishop Cornish School we provide a Christian-based education for children aged 4-11 years.

Bishop Cornish School is well known for the high standards that it achieves.  We endeavour to provide a disciplined, well structured, happy environment.  We believe that this gives pupils the opportunity to work and play as they achieve levels of excellence, and are prepared to take a positive and caring role in society.

We aim to make our school a happy and friendly place in which children can develop their personalities and talents, and fulfil their individual potential.

We aim to achieve high academic standards through a well structured course of study based on the National Curriculum.  The Governors' policy of appointing only teachers of the highest potential is the foundation on which we build positive attitudes to learning and achievement.

The school offers many opportunities for children to excel through academic, artistic, musical and physical activities.  Many extra-curricular activities are available.  We believe in developing the whole child.  We offer a before and after school club.

Our children wear uniform.  Our rules encourage them to be well mannered and to show courtesy and respect to others.  This is central to our school ethos.

Parents are welcome in school.  We offer opportunities to meet through parental consultations, formal and informal meetings, concerts, church services, sports and fund-raising events.  Details of events are sent out in regular newsletters.

Primary education provides vital foundations for a child's future life and happiness.  Our aim is to ensure that these foundations are securely laid and the child's skills, knowledge and attitudes are appropriately fostered.

We hope that your child will enjoy his/her years with us, and remember the years spent at Bishop Cornish with great affection.
